So I spent the past few days on an art weekend in Jasper National Park, and, well, to say the least, I feel defeated and frustrated with what I produced. After the first couple of days of plein air and using colour, with all efforts being downright awful, I resorted to pencil sketches. But I thought I would leave you with a nice Jasper picture until I can get my pictures off my camera. I also plan to add some paint to some of my pencil sketches, and then I will share them. But that is the way of an artist, you must paint many many paintings before you get one good one! What you see below is a stock photo off the internet just to give you a taste of what I was looking at.

Mushrooms mystify me. I know of two kinds in our neck of the woods which are edible – morels and red caps. They come out in the spring and the rest of them signify to me that fall is coming in Alberta
Can it get any better than this when kayaking? The sheep were so docile and unconcerned with our presence.
Taking a drive through Alberta’s David Thompson area is so unique. This photo of Fireweed displays well how it spreads and grows on soil which has been disturbed, and this area was disturbed by fires two years ago. Spectacular!
Anyone who cares to kayak at Telford Lake, Leduc, will come across many many pelicans.
Love these old wooden bridges
